To Wear at Bath Carnival
We love seeing our costumes getting out on the road and being enjoyed by a live audience and every single costume is available to hire on the day of Bath Carnival. Costumes can be hired individually or as a group and all funds raised go into their maintenance, repair and amendments.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I still perform in the carnival procession?
A: Yes, you will need to register your group online. Click on the Event tab for more details.
Q: How much does it cost to attend the Carnival?
A: It’s FREE. The carnival, the Party in the Park at Sydney Gardens and the preparation area at the Bath Recreation Ground are all completely free to enjoy.
Q: Are you doing any work with schools in my area?
A: Every school in B&NES was invited to partake in this year’s project. A full list of participating schools is listed on the Workshop tab. If your school isn’t listed unfortunately we are not currently working with them this year, but please let your head teacher know if you would like them to signup in time for 2018 or for the 2019 project.
Q: Will I be able to drive in Bath the day of the Carnival?
A: There will be significant disruption to the road network in the city centre on Saturday 21 July. It is advised to avoid driving and use public transport. Details of road closures will be made available on this page once ready.
Q: Can I bring my own alcohol to the festival?
A: We ask that you do not bring alcohol into The Party in the Park at Sydney Gardens. There will be licensed bars selling reasonably priced drinks throughout the event. The profits from the bar are a valuable source of income for this community project. There is a no-glass policy on site.
Q: Is it too late to sponsor or donate to this year’s project?
A: It’s never too late to show your support. Click on the Sponsor & Support tab for more info. No matter how small your donation is, every single penny makes a difference. Visit our LocalGiving page to make a £1+ donation.
Q: What other events are planned for the future?
A: You can expect more from us as we look to do more throughout the year. We are planning a special Halloween event on Thursday 1 November, supported by a themed workshop programme. We will keep the public updated of future events via Facebook and the website.
Q: Are there disabled facilities at the Carnival event?
A: Yes there will be disabled toilets at both the Sydney Gardens and Bath Recreation Ground. For wheelchair users involved in the procession there are additional exit points along the route which can be used if required.
Q: What’s the best way to get into the city centre on the day of the Carnival?
A: We advise using public transport or walking if possible.
Q: Where can I buy a Bath Carnival t-shirt and other merchandise?
A: We will be selling t-shirts and merchandise at Sydney Gardens on the day. Alternatively contact us via email and arrange collecting a t-shirt. T-shirts cost £12.
Q: How can I provide feedback on this year’s project?
A: You can either email us directly or contact us via Facebook. We appreciate all feedback so that we can continue improving our project and find out what people enjoy each year.
Q: I am a resident/business on the procession route, will the procession be a disruption for me?
A: There will be road closures and potentially bay suspensions in your area. We advise rescheduling deliveries to a date other than Saturday 21 July. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Q: Where can I buy a souvenir event programme?
A: You’ll be able to pick up this year’s souvenir event programme for free at shops, cafes and local businesses across Bath the month before the event.
